  18. The panhandler was an unsettling omen because he was a person who got addicted to crack or drugs. And later on, he was one of the people who left their families and robbed their parents to get the money to buy the rock in order to quench his thirst of drugs. This thing was destroying the community by its roots, and it was causing a lot of other problems in the society. These all factors made the panhandler an unsettling omen, and now he was lying to people and asking for money not to make any call just to get drugs

  55. The panhandler was introduced as "an unsettling omen" because of his whole perspective. "Omen," meaning "anything perceived or happening that is believed to portend a good or evil event or circumstance in the future." Being addicted to drugs would definitely portend or foreshadow a bad future for him unless he changes his way. However, in the mean time, he has become "an unsettling omen" for the community he lives in. The horrible influence he is giving children around him will only lead to a more frightful future.
